Salafi-jihad group in Gaza that pledged allegiance to al-Qaeda; flag shown in
Tahrir square, Cairo, Egypt, on June 15, 2012. It first came to prominence in
June 2009. The group has criticized Hamas for not imposing Sharia law and it is
thought that its members previously fought in Iraq and Afghanistan. In the

Jund Ansar Allah was an al-Qaeda-inspired organization ideologically
affiliated with the movement for global jihad. The movement was active between
November 2008 - 2009
